DIY in the sun…

………or, to be specific, DIY in the 30 mins of sun I managed to catch then DIY in the workshop after a mad dash carrying half-painted bookshelf through the garden, under the clothesline full of clean washing to avoid the rain!!

Today after spending a while tidying up said workshop, I decided to embark on a job that was niggling for a while – get the display stand ready for the fair in the RDS in September (The Wedding & Honeymoon Show – 5th & 6th September). So a book case that had been abandoned in the shed was recruited, dusted and sanded by yours truly (The baby helped, of course!) and while he napped, I – armed with my factor 50 suncream as I’m as pale as the brilliant white gloss I was painting with, my strapless top and a lovely cup of tea I got to painting. What I have done so far looks great, just need to turn it over and do the other sides tomorrow.

Now, I learned a few things today while painting

1. Painting is very therapudic
2. Extra paint on the paint brush does not make it go on quicker or the job faster
3. In future, remove clean clothes from washing line while running through the garden carrying bookshelf covered in wet white gloss paint – the hubbie’s good trousers are destroyed !!

A work in progress….
