Vintage Elegance, Rosie Style

IMG_0185.JPGIMG_0186.JPG

31st January – New Year’s Eve, brought us to the wedding of Gail and her fiance – the venue – The Tinakilly House Hotel in Rathnew, Co. Wicklow.

Tí na Coille – House of the Wood – a Victorian mansion steeped in history, for more information click here.

Gail had requested a tear drop bouquet, with lots of natural green foliage, white roses and deep pink orchids. A beautiful combination and something a little different! Bouquets made using individual orchid blooms involve a lot of work! Each bloom is wired individually and taped, to hide the wire and seal the stem of the orchid. The roses, and greenery that we used – tree fern and soft ruscus were arranged in a bridal bouquet holder in a soft, loose teardrop shape.

We used some of the fabulous orchids again in the 2 bridesmaids bouquets and tied them together in a posy along with sweet avalanche roses, finished with a soft ruscus collar and deep fuschia satin ribbon handles.

Gail also commisioned us to provide our Vintage Style Silver Candelabra to complete the look at the reception venue at Tinakilly House. The vintage style of the candelabra perfectly were the perfect compliment to the period house backdrop at Tinakilly. We provided our square mirrored bases and dressed the candelabra with delicate strands of natural ivy.

Rosie on the Green

St. Stephens Green, that is.

30th December saw us at the University Church on St. Stephen’s Green in Dublin’s City Centre. Laura and Paul tied the knot here, followed by a reception in The Westbury Hotel on Grafton Street.

As the ceremony was quite late – at 4pm, Laura decided she would like a romantic, candelight effect in the church so we set up the wrought iron aisle stands along the aisle. Dressed with natural ivy they really do add something special as you enter the church and walk up the aisle surrounded by candlelight. We dressed the alter rail with ivy and tealights and provided a large Unity Arrangement on the Alter itself, filled with White Avalanche roses and Eucalyptus foliage.

Laura’s own bouquet was an elegantly simple handtied posy of White Avalanche Roses mixed with white miniature calla lillies and finished with a soft ruscus collar, and ivory satin ribbon handle. The bridesmaids carried simple bouquets of white roses, finished with ruscus and navy ribbon handles to match their dresses.

We were also asked to do the table centrepieces for the Westbury Hotel, something that reflected the time of year, but that weren’t “too christmassy” so, I came up with the idea of groupings of large pillar candles at different heights, on a mirrored base to reflect the amazing chandeliers above the tables in the ballroom, and Laura had come across the gold mirrored tealight holders so we provided those on each table in addition to the pillar candle arrangments which were finished with a scattering of pine cones to reflect the wintery season!

Farrell & Chase Wedding Stationery

I recently had the pleasure of meeting with Graphic Designer Pamela Farrell of Farrell & Chase – a design studio specialising in beautiful letterpress wedding stationery.

Based in Kells, Co. Meath, Pamela currently works from home and brides (and the grooms!) can view the stationery by appointment, although she is soon to move into a new studio! Farrell & Chase also deliver invitations nationwide.

The invitations are absolutely gorgeous, I got to have a look at some samples and they are fantasic quality. Pamela creates original designs which are then printed on luxurious 100% cotton card, which she tells me, is chosen for it’s pillowy texture and thickness and they certainly feel that way! The card is then hand fed into their antique Adana Press and printed with tailor mixed inks, one colour at a time, embedding the artwork into the paper. They can customise your chosen design to compliment your wedding style, creating a very personal set of wedding stationery for you. Visit www.farrellandchase.com/custom/wedding to view the full collection.

Pamela is running a special offer for January – Order your letterpress wedding stationery and receive FREE Place Cards!!

I have attached some images of the invitations I got to see and I think they are exactly the right touch for the perfect first impression of your most important day.

Mistletoe and Wine

Christmas songs playing on my mind with these last posts – and so we have Christmas time, mistletoe and wine……..ok ok so it’s actually Hypericum berries, roses and wine satin ribbon but hey! I blame www.christmasfm.ie for all my song themed titles and hope they are back doing their fantastic fundraising work next year!

AnnMaries’ wedding on the 29th December and a berry theme! Her beautiful dress (that I was shown while in the bridal suite) had fabulous deep red/wine detailing – a gorgeous dress for a gorgeous bride!

The bridal bouquet was made using large white avalanche roses and deep red hypericum berries, finished with wine satin taken from the bridal gown and ivory satin. The 3 bridesmaids bouquets were smaller versions of the bridal, and the stems were wrapped in the gorgeous wine/red satin from the bridal gown, supplied to us by AnnMarie.

For the 2 cute as buttons Flowergirls, we made pomander balls, and again used the sash from the bridal gown for the handles – don’t worry, the wine sash was replaced by the dress makers with an ivory one ;) I thought it was a lovely way to incorporate the dress material into the bridal bouquets.

I delivered the bouquets to the Clontarf Castle and now i’m trying to come up with an occasion that merits my husband bringing me there for a night – its’ amazing!!
