Floral Fashionista!!

Lorraine and I were invited by Confetti Magazine to take part in our 2nd Fashion Feature with the magazine, this time – the Summer Edition. The theme for the shoot – “Feeling Floral”.

The Stylist – Alexia McInerney, contacted me with the brief – vibrant colours! Fresh clean lines and a summery feel! So we got to work! We were asked to create an unusual hair piece, a corsage for wrist and lapel, 3 bouquets and a centrepiece arrangement.

The shoot took place in the Seafield Hotel in Gorey – a really beautiful Hotel with amazing Spa and Thermal Suite – I got to enjoy a blissful 2 hours alone in the pool, sauna, steam room and hot tub! The food is fab and I’m keeping the hotel in mind for a mini-break during the summer!

The roses we used were a beautiful summery orange “Marie Claire” – a stunning two-toned deep yellow/orange rose that opened in near to a star shape. Buttery Yellow “Ilios” and 3 different pink tones – Deep pink two toned “Amalia”, Bright Pink “Aqua” and pale pink “Barbie”. I also used pink, green, yellow and white cymbidium orchids to create an amazingly colourful teardrop bouquet.

For the centrepieces, we used mixed orange and red toned Germinis for a topiary arrangement and for the candelabra centrepiece, a mix of the 3 pink roses and creamy vendella roses.

The hair piece was created using an open “Barbie” rose and surrounded by deep purple lisianthus, individually wired in place. We also designed an over the shoulder corsage using a mix of the yellow and orange roses.

Amy got a quick lesson in how to wire gerberas when an emergency bouquet was needed at the end of the shoot and we had to disassemble the gerbera centrepiece arrangement!! And I’m still traumatised over letting the “Bride” balloon go – I wonder if they managed to get it down from the Foyer Ceiling yet!!

I have below some of my own shots from the day – we will publish the “official” shots when the magazine goes to print!!

Special thanks to Amy Furlong, Photo Shoot Co-ordinator, as welcoming as always and thanks for the night away in the fabulous Seafield Hotel! Thanks to Kip Carroll, Photographer, a pleasure to work with again, to Dara in Frilly Frocks Drogheda and the hair and make up girls – Changing Faces and Bridget’s Hair Salon – lovely to work with you all!!
