Tulips from Amsterdam..

DSCF1004.JPG

Did you know, Tulips are not only one of the most popular Spring flowers, they are the Third most popular flower in the world, after roses and chrysanthemums! While we were working on Caroline’s Wedding on the 19th March, Lorraine was humming the lyrics of this song, here’s a link to it Tulips from Amsterdam i’m humming it now myself!!

Having a Spring wedding meant that Tulips were an appropriate choice (and not one that we see very often). Such simply beautiful flowers need no embellishment or fuss, though the simplicity of the arrangements belies temperamental delicate stalks that can be frustrating to arrange!

Caroline’s own bouquet was composed entirely of white tulips and hand-tied in a teardrop shape. The stems were wrapped in purple satin ribbon to complement the bridesmaids’ dresses. The bridesmaids’ bouquets were hand tied in a posy style and we used white and purple toned tulips, the stems were wrapped with ivory satin ribbon with pearl pin detail.

The ceremony took place in St. Mary’s Church in Lucan Village and we provided the Unity Candle Arrangement, our large wrought iron candelabra and we provided central floral arrangements in the candelabra of tulips, roses and lisianthus, the same flowers were used in the unity candle arrangement.

We also provided 10 wrought iron aisle stands, dressed with natural ivy and using LED candles as naked flame was not permitted in the church.

Congratulations to Caroline & John!

“Dazzled” by Dink – Handmade Jewellery

shimmrturqear.jpgearspctrapnk1.jpg

A few months ago, I purchased these fabulous little turquoise drop earrings from the lovely Fiona at Dink Design. They became my favourite-go-with-everything-everyday pair (I never go out without earrings on!!) and last week I lost one of them!! So today I visited the site and ordered a new pair (and a pink pair, because I couldn’t resist!!)

Fiona also makes gorgeously different wedding jewellery. Taking a new twist on the traditional pearl and crystal jewellery, she uses a combination of unusual biwa pearls, mother of pearl “donut” beads as well as semi-precious gemstones and swarovski crystals, creating unique and eye-catching pieces.

She also believes in giving value for money and feels that you shouldn’t have to pay extra just because of the occasion. Fiona creates one off pieces for brides so you’re guaranteed to have something unique on your wedding day. She can also create necklaces, bracelets and earrings for your bridesmaids matching whatever colour dress they are wearing, and has also designed many special pieces for the mothers of the bride and groom.

I’m looking forward to receiving my new earrings now – which i’m sure will be hand delivered as we are neighbours and a chat over a cappucino now that i’ve finally mastered the coffee machine!!

Kilbride – Bride

‘The Best Day to Marry’IMG_0581.JPG

(Traditional Rhyme UK)

‘Monday for wealth,
Tuesday for health,
Wednesday best day of all,
Thursday for losses,
Friday for crosses,
And Saturday no luck at all.’

Congrats to Jennifer Clarke who got married today in Kilbride Church, Co. Meath – Tuesday for Health according to the old rhyme (although as a 4 years married Saturday Bride I do wonder how accurate the rhyme is!). A first for RosieDays with a Tuesday wedding (and fun trying to arrange childcare for 2 working mummies who’s boys go to creche on Thursdays and Fridays – Jnr. came along for the spin to the wholesalers yesterday to collect our flowers and today my inlaws stepped in this morning while I delivered the bouquets and arrangements!)

IMG_0573.JPGIMG_0575.JPG

We are seeing a real trend in pink bouquets this Spring, from pale pink and ivories to a bouquet like Jennifer’s today with mixed pink tones. A really lovely choice and so vibrant and cheerful. Here we used the gorgeous deep pink two-toned Amalia Rose, lighter pink Aqua rose and beautiful creamy vendella roses. With pearl pin detail and a ruscus collar, the stems were wrapped with ivory satin and finished with a bow detail.

The 3 bridesmaids carried posies to complement the bride’s using vendella and aqua roses and the stems were wrapped with smokey grey satin ribbon to complement their charcoal grey dresses. We also made a cute gypsophilia pomander with pale pink rose detail for the flowergirl.

Mums were given corsages of pink and white lisianthus with a deep pink rose and all the boys wore double vendella rose buttonholes.

Our final orders were 2 Large arrangements for the rear of the alter in Kilbride church.

Wedded in Wexford..

IMG_1318.JPG

Catriona’s wedding was one of 2 weddings by RosieDays on the 12th March 2010 and was held in Crossabeg Church in Wexford, followed by a reception in the Ferrycarrig. Lorraine opted for the delivery and drive to Wexford while I made up and delivered 6 candelabra with centrepieces to a Dublin Hotel (giving me a rare Friday afternoon off so I took myself off for lunch in town and to the pictures to see Alice in Wonderland in 3D!).

IMG_1311.JPGIMG_1312.JPG

I think that Catriona’s bouquet is one of my favourites to date. A gorgeous mix of crystal blush calla lillies, pale pink barbie roses, crisp white avalanche roses and white bouvardia. Finished with a ruscus collar and ivory satin bow.

IMG_1314.JPGIMG_1316.JPG

The 3 Bridesmaids carried posies of bright pink aqua roses, pale pink barbie roses and white avalanche roses with dusky pink lisianthus to add an extra texture. The stems were wrapped in luxurious satin ribbon to complement the colour of the bridesmaid’s dresses.

IMG_1319.JPGIMG_1325.JPG

Caitriona supplied the cute flowergirl basket which we filled with ruscus, white roses and lisianthus and pink lisianthus For the mothers of the Bride and Groom, we created wrist corsages of white lisianthus with pale pink detail and supplied on velvet ribbon.

We also provided 2 large Traditional Pedestal arrangements for the church, a unity candle arrangement and pew end decoration of ivory organza with deep pink satin ribbon detail and bunches of white chrysanthemums.

SpringField Hotel Showcase

DSCF0818.JPGDSCF0820.JPG

On 20th and 21st February we took part in the Wedding Showcase at the Springfield Hotel, Leixlip. As we are the florists taking part in their “Elite Package” offer we were there to talk to brides and their grooms who had booked or were thinking of booking their wedding with the Springfield – and further afield!!

DSCF0809.JPGDSCF0868.JPG

Over the weekend, we displayed our 90cm Vintage Silver Candelabra in the dining room which had been set up with full dressing for weddings – complete with chair covers and organza sashes – a nice extra to have included in your wedding package! We also displayed our Ivory “Chandelier” candelabra.

Pictured below are the sample bouquets that we created for display at the showcase. An elegant white calla lily and ruscus hand-tied teardrop bouquet, posies of mixed pink roses, a cute flowergirl wand and pomander, white and red rose posies and my favourite of the day- the pale yellow and ivory rose bouquet!
