Classic Red Rose Bouquet

IMG_0203.JPGIMG_0208.JPG

A traditional bouquet choice for Ciara Lynch on 4th June when she was married in St. Kevins in Kinsealy. Ciara organised all the wedding details from Galway and chose classic Red Roses (we used Red Naomi) for her own bouquet with bear grass and pearl detail and white roses for her 2 bridesmaids which we finished with a gysophilia collar.

We also provided 2 Grand Candelabra dressed with Ivy for the alter and pew end decoration of a red rose, ivy and ivory tulle.  The weather on the 4th June was absolutely stunning, Lorraine and myself enjoyed a lovely lunch in the sunshine in Siam Thai in Malahide before returning to collect the Candelabra and Bay Trees.

Show Stoppers!

We recently took part in a wedding fair at the D4 Berkeley Court Hotel on 21st and 22nd May. I got to meet lots of lovely couples planning their wedding and enjoyed meeting Brendan Courtney and Jules Fallon of 1st Options Modelling, along with all the fab fellow wedding suppliers attending over the weekend. Pictured below are Suzie Mahony of Suzie Mahony Designs – fabulous handmade hats and headresses, Pamela Farrell of Farrell & Chase Stationery – gorgeous bespoke Letterpress stationery, Beverly and Sandra from Amazing Cakes (I managed to avoid stealing samples until late on Sunday afternoon!), Caroline & David Moloney of The Finishing Touch – Ireland’s first wedding planning service devoted to same sex marriages and civil ceremonies! Also pictured is a stunning dress, modeled by Irma of 1st Option, A Vera Wang gown retailing at €15,000 but available from Olivia at Discount Designers for €2,900!!! Although I have no pictures, I also met the lovely Aoife of Fifibelle shoes who specialise in shoes for larger shoe sizes!

Lorraine and I prepared for the wedding fair on the day before (Friday) as Lorraine (lucky girl) was heading off on her Summer Holiday on the 22nd, we decided to create 6 Bouquets for our stand, keeping things nice and simple, bouquets that we know brides will choose over and over again..a pomander of roses and we displayed 2 Grand Candelabra, 2 Aisle Stands and created a fab unity arrangement featuring sample personalised unity candles, now available at RosieDays. We also brought along one of our FairyLight Backdrops, now available for hire at RosieDays.

The first bouquet above is a handtied posy of double white crystal blush calla lillies with scented purple freesia, it was one of the most popular bouquets on the stand over the 2 days! The 2nd bouquet above is a handtied teardrop bouquet using avalanche roses, white bouvardia and crystal blush calla lillies, italian soft ruscus and fatsia leaves and finished with ivory organza on the stems.

The bouquets above are the ever-faithful bouquet of White Roses, simple finished with soft greenery and diamonte detail, and a slightly more quirky combination of GrandPrix Red Roses and deep purple lisianthus.

The last 2 bouquets are pictured above. On the left, my favourite of the show, a feast for the senses! Handtied bouquet of lavender, lisianthus, freesia, agapanthus and purple roses, with sage, rosemary and lavender foliage creating the most heavenly scent! Finished with deep grey satin ribbon handle. Finally, on the left, another very popular bridal bouquet, simple, elegant, timeless deep red roses, with a ruscus collar and finished with black satin and organza handle and matching bow.

Very Berry

IMG_1221.JPGIMG_1224.JPG

Did I tell you, that we finally got our worktops organised in the workshop? A chance mention by a visiting Groom-to-be and 1 week later we are happily working at waist-height counters – so much better for our poor ould backs!

Olive’s Wedding, in Ardagh, Longford on the 27th February was the first wedding we got to test run the new benches on! Such a pleasure to have SO Much space to work with, sure beats the days of getting 3 weddings in a weekend prepared in my not very sizeable kitchen – not to mention the toddler “helping”!

Olives’ bridesmaids wore deep red and she had requested one of our most popular bouquets – the fabulous Grand Prix Rose Posy Bouquet – timelessly elegant and velvety rich textured roses. The Bridesmaids carried white avalanche roses, interspersed with large round hypericum berries and all of the bouquets were wrapped in luxurious red velvet embossed satin ribbon.

We also arranged a Unity Candle piece for the Alter and 2 Large Traditional Style pedestal arrangement for the rear of the Alter and Lorraine delivered the bouquets to another happy RosieDays Bride!

Romantic Roses for Castle Durrow

2nd January and one of two weddings on this date. Hazel, who was getting married in Castle Durrow commisioned us to prepare her bridal bouquets and Unity Arrangement.

After meeting with Hazel, we decided on lucious deep red roses for her own bouquet and white roses with accents of red using Hypericum Berries for the 2 bridesmaids. The bridesmaids wore black dresses so we finished the bridal bouqeut with luxurious black velvet ribbon and the bridesmaids were finished with black satin to compliment the material of the dresses.

The bridal bouquet was finished with a collar of soft ruscus and bear grass detailing and the bridesmaids bouquets were trimmed with tree fern.  The Unity Arrangement, which was delivered to the hotel, included red and white roses, hard ruscus and chicco palm.

Lorraine had a scary drive to Durrow – only one lane of the Naas Dual Carriageway and Motorway open due to the heavy snow, it took a lot longer than expected driving at 40kph but she made it with the flowers unharmed in plenty of time for the brides’ departure for the ceremony!

Inspirational Course in London

What an amazing time I had in London – The amazing Ercole Moroni is now my new idol in the world of floristry!

Pictured below is a sample of some of the work we covered in the class and I plan to put my new skill of hand-tied teardrop bouquets into practise at our upcoming wedding in November.

The Covent Garden Flower Markets really are a sight to behold – an Alladins’ cave of floristry treasures!
